Rugby match programme: Llanelli v Swansea at Stradey Park Saturday 22nd October 1949.

This is a match programme from the Llanelli v Swansea rugby fixture on Saturday 22nd October 1949. The match was won by Llanelli by 5 - 0. The match was played in chilling rain and Swansea were favourites, having just defeated Cardiff at the Arms Park the weekend before. But Llanelli were better in the lines-out and forward loose play. Centre Hywel Thomas scored an interception try shortly before half-time, running 40 yards to score. Outside-half Derek Isles converted for a 5 - 0 win.
This is currently the oldest match programme in the St Helen's Archive relating to matches between these two old rival clubs.
