Info

This is the Wales rugby cap of back-row forward Joseph Ivor Thomas Morris. nown as Glyn to his team mates and Ivor in the press, Ivor was born in Bury Port in 1901. He played for Swansea from 1922 to 1925 making 60 appearances. He was in the Swansea side that played New Zealand in September 1924, The All Blacks gaining a 39-3 win on the way to an 'Invincible' tour. Ivor was capped twice by Wales in 1924, as a Swansea player. This cap marks his first appearance for Wales, which was at his own club ground of St Helen's on 19th January 1924. A much faster England side emerged winners by 17 - 9. Swansea's Joe Rees was the Wales captain that day and, with Morris in the pack and Albert Owen at scrum-half Swansea were represented by those three players. Ivor Morris was to retain his place in the Welsh pack for the following match at Inverleith against Scotland, which was an unhappy one for Wales, who succumbed by 35 - 10. Morris was not reselected for Wales, being one of the casualties of an uncertain selection process that saw 35 different players used in this international season. A steelworker by trade, Ivor joined the Glamorgan Constabulary later and played for the Glamorgan Police. He later worked as an engineer in Cheltenham and played for their senior team. He also played for Ystalyfera, Loughor, Aberavon, Bury Port, Llanelli, Bynea.
