Info
This photographic collage by Port Talbot photographer W Newark Lewis shows the Aberavon rugby side of 1925-26 season, when they played 38 matches, winning 30, drawing one and losing just 5 matches all season. They were captained by W J ("Willie") Hopkins and were in a golden period for the club. An indication of that success was that they had played 88 home matches between 1921 and 1926, losing just one. this image has come to the St Helen's Archive collection due to the presence in the Aberavon team that season of Ivor Morris, who had played for Swansea from 1922 to 1925 and being capped twice by Wales before moving to Aberavon to play. Ivor's image appears in this photographic collage.
