This photographic portrait of Swansea and Wales forward Joseph Ivor Thomas Morris was made by Swansea photographic artist Jack Thomas. Photographers of the day were referred to as "artists" as they retained the skills to hand tint black & white images to request. Listed as Ivor Morris in match reports, Morris was known as 'Glyn' to family and friends. Born in Bury Port in 1901He played for Swansea from 1922 to 1925 making 60 appearances. He was in the Swansea side that played New Zealand in September 1924, The All Blacks gaining a 39-3 win on the way to an 'Invincible' tour. Ivor was capped twice by Wales in 1924, as a Swansea player. A steelworker by trade, Ivor joined the Glamorgan Constabulary later and played for the Glamorgan Police. He later worked as an engineer in Cheltenham and played for their senior team. He also played for Ystalyfera, Loughor, Aberavon, Bury Port, Llanelli, Bynea. This portrait was donated to the archive by the wishes of Morris' family.
