Info
This 'home' jersey from the 2005-06 season was presented to the archive by long time Ospreys and Swansea supporters Keith Davies. The 2005-06 season saw big changes in the region with the move to the new Liberty (now Swansea.com) Stadium in August and, with the absorption of the now defunct Celtic Warriors region in to the Ospreys orbit, the change of branding from Neath-Swansea prefix to simply the Ospreys. The new stadium was christened with a friendly against the English Wasps side, preceded by crowd entertainment, including singer Charlotte Church. The Ospreys were again captained by Barry Williams and finished the Celtic League in 7th position with 11 wins and 9 losses from 20 matches. The Heineken Cup was not a happy hunting ground this season with Ospreys finishing 3rd in pool 3 with 2 wins and 4 losses. Ulster won the Celtic League title in the last match of the season against reigning Champions Ospreys at Liberty Stadium. But despite the mixed success, Ospreys were represented by 4 players on the British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand: Brent Cockbain, Gavin Henson, Shane Williams and the late but successful addition of Ryan Jones, who enhanced his reputation greatly on the tour.
