This photograph of the Swansea RFC 1st XV in the 1909-10 season was taken at the east end of the old grandstand. The playing record was: P: 35, W: 27, D: 4, L: 4. Pts For: 464, Pts Ag: 63. Swansea were runners-up in the Welsh Championship this season and seven players appeared for Wales: Jack Bancroft (E, S, I & F), Ivor Morgan & D J Thomas (E, S, I & F), Billy Trew (E, S & I), Dick Jones (E & F), Dicky Owen (E & F), and Phil Hopkins (E). The original photograph suffered water damage during a flood and some of the photographic paper adhered to the glass. A digital copy has been made and enhanced to preserve the image.
