Info

This jersey was worn by Ritchie McCaw in the Rugby World Cup 2003 match against Wales. An exciting match was won 53 - 37 by the All Blacks on the 2nd of November 2003 in Sydney, and was a start of a renaissance in Welsh Rugby leading to the 2005 Grand Slam. Colin Charvis captained the Welsh team. McCaw held the record for the most caps for New Zealand, with 148, until 2023 where he was surpassed by Sam Whitelock. Whitelock retired from international rugby with 153 caps. This jersey represents McCaw's 18th Cap as illustrated by the annotation at the bottom left front. The jersey was kindly presented to the St Helens Archive by Colin Charvis in February 2024.
