Info

This cup was presented to D J 'Jack' Bassett when he was at Holyrood School, Bangor in 1929. He received it for achieving the best bowling average figures of that season. OT168 shows the match ball he received for achieving figures of 8 wickets for 5 runs in one match. Jack later played for the Swansea RFC 1st & 2nd XV (1933-35). A promising athlete, Jack joined the R.A.F. in 1938 and sadly was killed along with the rest of his crew in a training accident when flying a Wellington Bomber on 10th September 1941. This memento of his sporting career and others on this website, were donated to the collection by his son David Bassett.
