Info

This medal for the 440 yards sprint was awarded to D J 'Jack' Bassett while he attended Holyrood School, Bognor in 1929. Jack later played for the Swansea RFC 1st & 2nd XV (1933-35). A promising athlete, Jack joined the R.A.F. in 1938 and sadly was killed along with the rest of his crew in a training accident when flying a Wellington Bomber on 10th September 1941. This memento of his sporting career and others on this website, were donated to the collection by his son David Bassett.
