School medal, caste brass in presentation box. Medal: 2 in. (5cm) diameter. Laurel border round circumference. Scroll at top with “Bono Cum Animo” ('Courage and Faith') legend within. “Holyrood School, Bognor Senior 440 Yards 1929 D.J. Bassett” Reverse shows ‘victory’ figurine holding palm branch and laurels. Presentation case: L.J. Wade Jeweller Bognor.

This medal was presented to D J 'Jack Bassett when attending Holyrood School, Bognor. Jack later played for the Swansea RFC 1st & 2nd XV (1933-35). A promising athlete, Jack joined the R.A.F. in 1938 and sadly was killed along with the rest of his crew in a training accident when flying a Wellington Bomber on 10th September 1941. This memento of his sporting career and others on this website were donated to the collection by his son David Bassett.
