Newspaper cutting. Hereford Journal Thursday 5th May 1785 p2 - Swansea Cricket meeting

This news clip tells us of the first get together of the season for the "gentlemen subscribers" of cricket at Swansea. It does not specify a club as such. There may have been one or it may possibly have been a loose affiliation or arm of another 'Gentleman's Club'. Certainly the modern Swansea CC does not recognise this as being their club, though perhaps we may say it was a lineal ancestor. It is nevertheless, the earliest mention in print of a cricket organisation at Swansea
