The Swansea Cricket Club was originally founded in 1829 according to a 1945 narrative (see: OT156 page4). This is then, the earliest reference after that date to a Swansea Cricket Club. It refers to a play at the Swansea Theatre under the patronage of the "Gentlemen of the Cricket Club". The club is known to have re-formed again in 1940 and so, did not have a continuous existence from 1829.
