In 1997-98 Swansea RFC were Welsh Heineken Premier League Champions under their captain Garin Jenkins. The league Championship was won with the least number of league losses in top flight history. With 381 points accumulated, outside-half Arwel Thomas equaled mark Wyatt's Swansea points scoring record. It was also the highest number of points scored by a player in the 1997-98 Heineken Premier League.
