Info
This set of correspondence is one of 8 sets (OT108, OT109, OT110, OT111, OT112, OT113, OT114, OT115) relating to the arrangements for the tour of Swansea RFC to Paris in April 1899 near the end of their fixture season in Wales. The tour was notable for being the first one by a Welsh club to continental Europe. Swansea travelled as acknowledged Welsh Champions for the 1898-99 season, a title they were to retain for five of the next six seasons, culminating in an 'Invincible' season in 1904-05. The opponents in Paris in April 1899 were ostensibly the Stade Français club. But due to the renown of the 'All Whites' at this time, a combined France XV was engaged instead, built around the Stade Français club. OT109 deals with the arranging of a £10 deposit for the tour.
