Info

This photograph depicts the Glamorgan cricketer Emrys Davies being honoured by notaries in the town of Swansea to mark his having achieved the 'double' of taking 100 wickets and scoring 1,000 runs in the preceding (1934) season, for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. Davies was the first Welshman to achieve this landmark. Davies was presented with an inscribed gold pocket watch and a cheque. The presentation took place in the St Helen's Pavilion and was made by Mr Traherne, one of the oldest members of the Glamorgan County Club. Emyr Davies finished the 1934 season having scored 1595 runs including centuries against Middlesex (100) and Worcester (127). The news cutting from the Evening Post names the personnel in the photograph as: (L to R): Mr G Llewellyn Hay, Mr C Traherne, Alderman Edward Harris, Mr M J Turnbull and Mr Emrys Davies.
