Info

This jersey is on of the set produced for the Swansea match v Australia at St Helen's on October 30th 1984. Swansea went into the match having lost just 3 of the 14 matches they'd played. Opposed to them were one of the great Wallaby sides of all time, containing such names as Michael Lynagh, David Campese, Matt Burke and Nick Farr-Jones. The tourists won all four test matches and all but 4 of the 18 matches played. At St Helen's on that October evening Swansea played the teenage half-back pairing of Aled Williams and Robert Jones. An early 6 point lead by the tourists was wiped out by an Arthur Emyr try and Mark Wyatt penalty but the Wallabies scored twice more before half-time. They increased their lead after the break but then the St Helen's floodlights failed and the ground was thrown into darkness. It was abandoned as an Australian win by 17 points to 7, as a sufficient portion of the match had been completed. The Swansea team were composed: (51 to 9): Mark Wyatt Tony Swift, Ian Jeffries, Gareth Jenkins, Arthur Emyr, Aled Williams, Robert Jones; (1 to 8): Clive Williams, Huw Gilson, Stuart Evans, Trevor Cheeseman, John Williams, Paul Moriarty, Mark Davies (Capt.), John Thomas.
