A type-written letter on paper, dated 11th July 1979 and addressed to the Secretary, Swansea Cricket & Football Club. Also a reply from David Price, the Swansea C&FC Secretary, dated 16th July 1979. Dimensions: (w21cm x h27cm)

This letter was sent by A L Bertie Perkins, the grandson of C H Perkins. The latter was closely involved with the Swansea Cricket & Football Club over many years, as was his brother F E Perkins, a Swansea RFC Secretary. C H Perkins had been Secretary of the Swansea Cricket Club cira 1870 and the mention in the letter to a SCC minute book refers to the 1866-71 minute book, which is in the St Helen's Archives still. The Bancrofts' house photograph was a popular print of its day and several versions exist, with and more rarely without the small child in front. The child was not, as David Price had thought, W J Bancroft junior of cricket and rugby fame, but more likely his own son. The hockey photograph is also part of the St Helen's Archive collection and can be viewed by searching for PH232.
