This commemorative plaque was presented to Swansea RFC by the touring Springboks when they played Swansea at St Helen's on 15th November 1969. The match was won 12 - 0 by South Africa, but was a match more noted for the crowd disturbances initiated by anti-apartheid demonstrators. This was the last tour by a South African rugby team until 1994, when the apartheid system had been repudiated by the new government under Nelson Mandela.
