This jersey belonged to a player from the Italian club Colonna RFC who played against Swansea at St Helen's in a pre-season match in August 1985. The match was played because of a request by Professor J H (Herbert) Beynon in order to raise money for an Italian association active against Leukaemia. The Swansea club were complimented on their action to help out by the President of the Organising Committee, Silvio Lisato, who said: “Your participation honours Italian rugby and all its supporters and fans…. As far as rugby is concerned, you are the most authentic and qualified representatives.” The jersey was presented to the Swansea club by Professor Herbert Beynon.
