Info

This letter from Mr Marc E Harris of west Virginia, USA to Swansea RFC, enquired about his grandfather David John Harris. D J Harris was a Swansea player from 1897 to 1898. At the time of this letter (1996) some information was gleaned about D J Harris. A more thorough correspondence between the memorabilia CIC and the Harris family in November-December 2020 revealed much more about the Swansea career of D J Harris and his subsequent emigration to Pitsburgh in the USA in September 1898. See the accompanying photograph (PH219). the correspondence between the club and Haris family is an example of the archives working to inform and interact with a wider community, in this case several thousand miles away.
