Info
Swansea played Neath at The Gnoll on the 3rd April 1909, Neath beat Swansea 8 points to 4 points. Horrible weather meant that attendance was a lot lower than expected (att: 3,000) and with the conditions being so poor, the game had many stoppages due to injuries. Swansea's captain Billy Trew was sidelined for the rest of the season with a serious shoulder injury, three-quarter Harry Toft and forward Harry Hunt also had to leave the field, Toft later returning briefly before being finally withdrawn concussed. Neath half-back 'Shon' Evans was also knocked out later in the match. The Neath team led 1 try to nil at halftime by P.C. Pullman. Gwilym Jones added another in the second half which Jack Brennan converted. For Swansea, Jack Bancroft dropped a goal in the second half but it was not enough to beat the Welsh "All Blacks".
