Abstract
This 7" single was released in 1976 in response to the near fatal accident to Swansea, Wales and Lions No8 Mervyn Davies. Davies suffered a brain haemorrhage during the Welsh Cup Semi-Final against Pontypool at the National Stadium, Cardiff on Sunday 28th march 1976. He eventually made a full recovery but his rugby career was over. He had been expected to be selected as the captain for the 1977 Lions tour to New Zealand. Des Rawlings' song reflected the shock and sadness that the sudden retirement of "Merve the Swerve" caused in wales and beyond. see also OT067, copy of the lyrics of the song, signed by Des Rawlings.
