Abstract
This full page is from the Cambria Daily Leader of Swansea and depicts the interest in the town in the international rugby match to be held that day at St Helen's between Wales and Scotland. Wales won the match by two tries toa converted try (6 - 5), thereby gaining the Triple Crown once more. Two Swansea players were in the Welsh team: Billy Trew at outside centre and George Hayward in the pack. This was Hayward's first cap and an article in the newspaper is dedicated to an interview with him. The page also features previous results between the two nations and a reproduced photograph of the first Welsh team to have beaten Scotland (1888). Other articles ponder the tactics of the Sottish team and there are two action photographs of Swansea's recent encounter with Gloucester at St Helen's on 25th January, which Swansea won (11 - 3). The original newspaper was glued to a board and is now archived. this is a digital scan of that original.
