Info

This is a carved wooden shield that was presented by Swansea mayor S.C. Jenkins to the touring Springboks side when they met and played Swansea RFC on 26th November 1960 at St Helen's. The fifteen signatures of the Swansea team selected to play South Africa, were engraved onto the face of the shield. The shield has remained in possession of the Swansea club and so has since been returned to St Helen's. It was commissioned originally by Mr T Morlais Morris, a long-time Swansea supporter and was carved by Mr Brynley Roberts of Morriston. See Newscutting: NC001.
