Abstract
This medal was awarded to forward Tom Morgan of the Swansea second Fifteen at the end of the 1909-10 season. Each member of the team received an identical medal to mark the fact that they had kept their ground record intact. The record of the seconds for the season was: Played: 26, Won: 18, Lost: 3, Drawn:5, Abandoned: 1. Points for 243, Against: 42. Although 3 matches were lost, none were at home. To put the medal presentation in perspective, the first fifteen had finished third in the Welsh Championship behind Champions Neath and runners up Newport. there was concern that insufficient new players were coming through to replace some of the older established players. A notion to dispense with the second fifteen had been abandoned when it was seen how many of them had come through of late to help the seniors when needed. Thus the acknowledgement of the home record was important a a moral boost. In addition a dinner for the Second Fifteen was held at the Grosvenor Hotel, Swansea on 21st April 1910. by 1912-13 Swansea's senior side were Welsh Champions once more, illustrating that the flow of new talent continued to emanate from the Seconds.
