Abstract

At the end of the 1903-04 season each member of the Swansea Second Fifteen was presented with a medal identical to this one, which was presented to Peter Lockman. Lockman was captain of the seconds for the second consecutive season and this medal represents the achievement of having lost just one match (away to Aberdare 23rd January 1904) in two seasons. Thus they had achieved an 'Invincible' season in 1902-03 and remained unbeaten at home for two seasons together. In fact the last home defeat for the Swansea seconds had been at the hands of Cardiff seconds on 26th October 1901. The medal is specifically in recognition of the home record remaining intact.
