Abstract

This Welsh international jersey was worn by Mervyn Davies. Considered the greatest No8 of his generation, "Merve the swerve" won 38 Welsh caps between 1969 and 1976, encompassing two Grand Slams and three Triple Crowns. He captained Wales in his last 9 appearances. He also toured with the victorious 'Lions' to New Zealand in 1971 and again with the undefeated 'Lions' in South Africa in 1974. He played for Swansea from 1972 to 1976, captaining them in 1975-76. Mervyn also played for Old Guildfordians, London Welsh, Surrey and the Barbarians. This jersey was kindly gifted to Swansea RFC by Mervyn.
