Engraved Vase and lid, Romanian Tour 1954

This engraved vase was presented to the Swansea club during their historic tour in Romania in August 1954, the first western club to tour behind the 'Iron Curtain'. They played two matches on the tour losing the first to the Locomotiva club (32 - 12) and winning the second against the Constructor club (16 - 5). Clem Thomas led the Swansea side on this ground breaking tour. Their popularity led to a Romanian XV playing at Swansea in 1955.
