Abstract
This is the original letter hand written and signed by George Rowland Hill, Hon. Secretary of the RFU and received by F.E. Perkins the Swansea RFC Hon. Secretary, regarding the James Brothers David and Evan. It is dated 3rd February 1896 and written on RFU headed note paper. In the text Mr F.E. Perkins is informed that the RFU Committee have reinstated the James brothers, having, along with the Welsh Union, suspended them in October 1892 for joining Yorkshire club Broughton Rangers. They were accused of demanding payment by Swansea RFC to stay with them. The reinstatement was confirmed on 31st January and on 1st February David and Evan James represented Swansea against Cardiff, a game they narrowly lost. The text of the letter reads: "Dear Sir, I beg to inform you that my Committee have reinstated the Bros James' Yours truly (signature) Hon. Sec." "F.E. Perkins Esq" is written beneath.
