Abstract

The British & Irish Lions cap awarded to Swansea and Wales back Dai Richards on the Lions' tour to South Africa 1980. Richards played in 7 matches on the tour including the 1st Test match v the Springboks on 31st May 1980. He played at centre in that match and 3 others, playing at his Swansea position of outside-half for the remaining 3 games. Richards scored a try in the win against Transvaal on 7th June but an injury suffered in that match ended his tour prematurely. Dai Richards had also been a reserve for the 1977 Lions tour to New Zealand.
